Annual Report 2007

Well, if you had forgotten, I had scrapped the idea of having resolutions since last year. Mainly due to the fact that I never fulfiled them and I tend to not care about them at all.

But I did mention I wanted to pick up a new skill. Well...
  1. I can play a full song on my crummy ol' guitar
  2. I CAN make cupcakes, they're edible alright!
  3. Workwise, I did pick up a couple of new, useful skills *YAY*
So let's do a brief rekept for 2007. Honestly speaking, I've been very brief on my entries for this whole year. Sadly, my camera did not get that much abused from me this year.

I guess I did tried to do better in life and work. I remember having all this self-realisation, self-discover shitzz for a couple of months. I blame it on my quarter life crisis. For once I notice how much I've grown and I've also realised how precious time is.

Charly, the french fry, came down to Singapore again for his internship. I wished I had spent more time with him but I didn't. He was here for like 6mths and I met him like 2-3 times? pathetic eh? But that's more frequent than I meet my own folks, so...

Lindsay came and I met up with her for that one day... just one day! I will do better for your 2008 trip, I promise!

I met so many new people... like SO MANY! I made myself sit down and listen to them to really get to know them better before passing off judgement. Yeah, a whole different Fida coming your way. I'm still the same person really, just takes a much longer time to unleash the negativity now. Haha!

Am I happier now? I guess you can say so. But deep inside there's a tinge of sadness in me for the fact that I wish I could meet up with my present, long-time-no-see friends again to catch up on old times. Just having you in my phonebook is not enough... unless I've chosen to avoid you already? Muahaha!

Let's talk about vacations. I went to Phuket, Bangkok, Bintan and JB. That's like using my passport for 4 times! Like woah~ This has to be some kind of a record! Usually I travel like twice max.

Pricely possession of this year includes:
  1. Nintendo DS-Lite (pimped out version)
  2. Nokia E65
That's it? Wow! I guess I didn't spend as much as I used to! But then again, I made up for that in the travelling department.

I almost lost my PC but a good friend told me he'll fix it at no cost... just a Burger King meal! That was a close call but I'm glad he manage to salvage everything back. I have no clue what I'll do if I loose all the data inside! I should now consider investing in a Hard Disk Drive to backup all my data!

I did blogathon again this year and once again, I fell asleep for a bit. It was a lot more organised this year as I've had previous experiences. Haha. I didn't raise that much money but I'm glad I did my part to help the less fortunate. Should I look forward to Blogathon 2008? Meh... we'll see about that. It kinda gets a tad too old... we need fresh ideas people!

As I mentioned I won't be setting resolutions but on the other hand, I started new projects/hobbies.
  1. I Must Do This Daily - Project 365 Blog (Where I post a picture once a day from my mobile phone)
  2. Roll - Lomo/Holga blog (Yes I will be a proud owner of a Holga in a week's time. In the meantime I'll stick to my Action Sampler)
These are just the few I'm starting. I hope to keep myself more occupied in 2008 with all these projects, new and present, in hand. At the same time it gets my creative juice running... some of you may have noticed I've not designed my own template for a while.

So what's gonna happen in 2008? Settle down? Hmmm....

Time for an update... yay!

To do:
  1. Upload photos from 3 trips I had in September
  2. Remind myself aging doesn't matter
  3. Clear schedule for some decent social life
  4. Plan another vacation
  5. Save money
  6. Gear up for December issue (my magazines)
  7. Lose weight
  8. Earn a promotion... muahaha!!
  9. Reach advance level for Sudoku
  10. Spend more time with my digital camera
Accomplishment:
  1. Change layout - although Fahmy wasn't too pleased with the underlying message; I thought it was nice!
  2. Be more efficient at work over the years - too long in my previous place does wonders to my productivity level... not in a good way
  3. Planned my leave till the end of the year
  4. Got in touch with many long lost friends
  5. Bought new toys to keep me occupied at home, in the bus, etc etc
  6. Met my annual travel quota
  7. Thank God, I manage to go through fasting month peacefully
  8. Improved my baking skill
  9. 'Pimped' my hair
  10. I had proven to myself that I CAN save money... like for real!
Updating in point form is like sooo much easier... haha!

Drill me baby!

I took morning off with a colleague to make full use of our dental benefit worth S$120. We made appointment on the same day but I got the 9am slot while she's like half and hr after me. Pretty odd since I'm horrible at waking up THAT early but I manage to reach the clinic around 8.42am (yup, I memorised the time from my receipt). Despite my applaudable effort to be there on bloody time, I was made to wait for more than 45mins. Yes, I bumped into my colleague who came about 10mins earlier before her appointment. I was furious but then again, who's ever excited to sit in the dentist chair anyway?

The 'drilling' session was alright I guess. I got nagged for not making it a point to visit the dentist annually. My last visit was in Aug 05 because of an unfortunate swimming session that resulted in a semi-shattered tooth. Don't wanna talk about it. I can still feel the pain, in my pocket.

Anyway, the dentist told me I got a minor gingivitis, or something like that. But you have to agree, it has a pretty cute name. I could name my new mobile phone that! Its just plaque (a.k.a. tartar) built up near to the gums resulting from little or no brushing. Usually will affect the hard to reach places at the back. So the dentist went on to teach me the proper way to clean the unreachable areas.

Dentist: Point your brush 45 degrees so that it's able to touch all the way to the back. Don't brush, but just jiggle, jiggle, jiggle...

I think a better solution will be to get those really long and thin toothbrushes. Someone need to invent some if there isn't any in the market! No one ever thought me to jiggle my brush against my tooth! It used to be up-down motion and recently on the Ellen Show, they thought us to brush in circular motion and now I learnt how to jiggle with my toothbrush! Lesson learnt... cost me S$103.80! Yup, just for consultation and scaling. Who says I avoid making annual appointments cos' I'm afraid of the dentist?

Poker face, no?

I've always wondered how one can make money, legally of course and one sure way, if you've got the luck to boot, is to gamble. Casino is nothing foreign, we're opening one here in Singapore after many years of resorting to fleeing to one in other countries. Now here's another thought... why bother to gamble so far away from your bedroom when you can do it online?

One good website to try your luck to win some cash is with Mac Poker where they have the very oh-so-popular Poker of course. Other than depending on your luck to win with a good hand, you can earn Poker Bonus when you refer a friend to join you in the gambling fun you can have in many different rooms they have like Pacific Poker, Party Poker and Fulltilt Poker.

I warn you, this can get addictive! For beginners, please take the time to read the rules, tips and strategies before you even think of starting. I mean, you wouldn't want to be all dried up before day 1 ends right?

spend - save = debt

How many of us out there own credit cards? How many of us applied for one even when you jolly well know, you do not meet the requirements? Correction - how many banks out there approved your application even when you do not meet the most basic (and important) requirement, your annual salary. If you had your hands virtual up for both my question, may I ask, how much in debt are you right now? Right now I'm looking at a Debt Management website that has practically all the answers to debtors' worry.

The websites acts as a resourceful search engine for the best loans and bad credit remortgages in UK (unfortunately). Many people are not applying for one sensibly. Many people waste money on not searching for a loan that offers the lowest interest or they don’t take enough care in making sure they can afford the repayments which is crucial cos' you may be in a whole other debt problems because of that.

For a spendthrift like me I foresee the need to take up loan one day to pay for erm... my lifestyle. Do I want to tie myself down in debt like that? Its like buying a car or a house and paying in installments. You'll owe the bank for life. Of course it might not be the case for say study, vacation or renovation loans. Since these loans are somewhat possible to pay up, its important that I do my research before getting myself in debt to the grave.

In short, I would advise you to spend wisely. If you can't afford something, using your credit card (other than for emergency, and by emergency I mean life and death situation) for your purchases is just gonna spell trouble in your wallet. Now, where's my scissors...

My indian shopkeeper

Last night, a nice Indian shopkeeper (mama shop) attended to me when I wanna make my purchase. While waiting for me to dig my wallet, he mentioned that I should get Ruffles chips cos' they're having a promotion where they'll knock off S$4 off cinema tickets. I wanted to get that sinful bag of chips. Not because I want to stuff calories into my tub o' lard form, but just to acknowledge that this is the first time he had tried to make a sale with me. We usually just exchange smiles or the usual "how much?". Unfortunately that day my wallet decide to disagree with the man. Tonight... I'll be back!

I was browsing the net aimlessly and landed on a hair transplant website and I immediately thought of that indian man. Haha! I can, in one breathe, name all the people I know who is in need of this surgery. Most of them I know has hair thinning problem starting from the side of the crown receeding to the centre back leaving a tiny 'island in the centre front. Very Bruce Willis don't you think? If you can see it in a positively way, good for you, otherwise I might suggest you do something about it. Oh by the way, these people I have in mind are not over 35 years old yet!

Unfortunately, women are not spared from this phenomenon. From the website I discovered treatments available for the ladies too.
For women, the losing of hair is often very distressing. Most cases of hair loss in women are due to inherited female pattern balding, but medical conditions can also be involved, such as low thyroid levels, hormonal imbalances such as elevated testosterone, binge dieting, and pregnancy. Another cause of hair loss in women is the distortion of hair growth and scarring as a result of prior facial plastic surgery.
I better start to be careful as lately I've been losing a lot of hair but I believe mine is because of poor diet and also my hair is screaming for a trim. Its ok... I've got plenty of hair to spare :P I believe these problems will be more common for those over the age of 45 maybe? The before-and-after photos are pretty gruesome... I'm kinda worried now... no, wait... I shouldn't... hmmm....

Feelin' queasy...

Can you believe up to date I am still not insured? Can you believe I am living day to day dangerously and not worrying about mishaps that may occur to me which may burden myself or my family or love ones? Do you want to know why?

Insurance agent in Singapore are pushy, manipulative and love to shove costly policies that you don't need! I've had it with them but at the same time I have no idea what kind of coverage I actually wanted. So I googled around and found this website called Insurance Portal Online. Hmmm... how appropriate.

Unfortunately I am non US citizen otherwise this baby would have help me alot! Imagine me stepping in one of the establised insurance hub here and approach one agent and go like "Hey you, get me a life insurance policy worth US$500,000 with XXX company where I only need to pay a premium of US$XX for a 10 year plan. That's my budget so get to it!"

In reality, agent XX will whip out folders after folders selling me something I may or may not need. Or worse, policies that I cannot afford! Yes they will be useful if I break a leg or stop breathing but till then I need to pay for food and bills to continue breathing and breaking legs. I can say only a small number out there who really listen to me... where are you!?!

I know I will get roped up by one of them one day. In my plan right now probably to work on having at least 3 policies: my own life insurance, home insurance and I'd probably buy one for my kid/s if I have any in future. Its a lot cheaper for them to start early :)

Till I find that 'special someone', I shall live on the edge.

Any agents out there reading this, bugger off, my answer will always be the same.. I'M NOT INTERESTED!. Go bug someone else who can help you achieve your quotas.

Weekly Update

Yeah, I'm late like that but whatever. Its my blog and I'll update whenever I want to. Last friday my company had a sponsored tea time in our lounge area and since I got crap to do before my weekend starts I had a quick trip over to the buffett table only to steal these...

Yeah drool away my friends!

Right after that my MD called me out for a little chat. He asked how was my teabreak and I can't help but to shower him with praises for agreeing to organise such stuff. Little did I realise I don't think thats why he asked me out. Later we sat near the pantry and he whipped out a report and showed me all the clients that we've dealt with for the past 3 months. I just went along not knowing what he wants. After he's done explaining the report to me I was like "Darn, bribing me with awesome sinful stuff to make me do stuff for him!".

Then he whip out a file and showed me a cheque of value $(bleep). My eyes lit up (like DOH!) and I waited for him to explain what the cheque is for. "This is your commission plus half of it is advance for clients who have not cleared their invoice yet. We're doing this quarterly so if you want your money, ensure client make their payment on time." He prompted if I've got anything to ask him and I went like "erm... why aren't this made monthly?" which he shot me with "You want me to die is it!?" Hehe... he's a funny man :)

Ah yes, How could we start the year without celebrating this asshole's birthday. We went for a 'big' feast @ Beach Road. No photos cos' all of us got our hand dirtied with red stuff all over. After which we head downtown for a gaming session @ Minds Cafe. We all had a blast! Especially that asshole since we gave him, I think, a wonderful gift after last year's. Hope he will wear it like everyday... till next year! Click any of the thumbnails below to see the rest of the pictures.

The Final ERS...

To my fellow Singaporean, the next time you made a trip down to the ATM Machine, dun forget to make you ERS encashment. Do it before you forgot all about it. I had mine done... YIPEE!!!

Had lunch at May's. Can't be bothered to carry my digicam around for the past few days. In fact I dun really feel like blogging these few days. My Xmas eve's celebration at work went pretty well. Everybody looked happy. I felt relieved cos its all over. Tiring, you know!! I never wanna organise any in the next 5 years!! I mean it!

I start thinking about it,
I almost forgot what it was like,
To know what it feels like,
Cause with you
I can let my hair down
I can say anything crazy
I know you'll catch me right before I hit the ground
With nothing but a T-shirt on
I never felt so beautiful
Baby as I do now
Now that I'm with you

I'm gonna head down to a private party for new year's eve. I can't wait. Vodkas, beers, wine, champagne... here I come!

Oh before I pen out, to my dearest darling, pls listen to me, you need a new handphone... YES YOU DO!!

Fida

Yes that's what I'm gonna call my entry today cos its about me. Make sense? Hmmm anyway I just realised that my brain don't work upon being scolded/nagged/yelled (anything thats way louder than my talking noise level). You can do so if you're my boss, you can do so if I pissed you somehow... now I dunno what's the value of the word 'please' anymore. May you be retrenched... eventually...*evil grin*

A girlfriend of mine thought me how to fix myself for a better future.

1. Try to maintain at least $100 every month in your account by controlling my shopping-for-things-i-dun-really-need stuff nor clothes cos since i'm in the process of losing weight, i can use that shopping spree as a reward when that day comes. By then, in her own words, I will be rich enough to fill up the whole wardrobe. That only means that she has no faith in me in my fitness regime... well

2. Stop snacking in between meals. I like doing there especially when I'm bored. I can't help it.

3. Lower down all my budgets for anything... she thinks $19.90 for are way too much for a pair of flip-flops... what do you think?

4. Always ask your boyfriend for money...

(hahaha i added that last one... well, it does help, you know!)

I'm addicted to Chocolate by Kylie Minogue. Check out its bass line... so funky... i loike! I've been influencing a lot of people to like SNL. I've been downloading the clips off Ares (iMesh/Kazaa alike) since forever! I love them all!! Damn it I missed the first episode of America's Next Top Model Season 2. I hope I won't get too lost when I catch the 2nd episode!

In quotes... "LIVE FROM NEW YORK ITS SATURDAY NIGHT!"

I've been mistreated!

Ok, first of all thats my song for the week, Deep Purple's Mistreated. It so fits what I am going thru this week. You won't believe what had happened to me, but its really happening!

1. My grandma got a call from our relatives from kampung (village) in Johor, Malaysia. Her uncle passed away... and shortly after, that deceased guy's sister passed away on the way to pay her last respect to him. What are the chances. My grandma broke down when she told me what happened. I dun personally know them but hell that's disasterous!

2. My grandma has decided that I shouldn't live with her anymore. I should try to start getting used to living with my dad. She said she's now too old to live that very long. How depressing is that!

3. My bank account was shut down late last month. I only got to know about it this morning. Supposed to be pay day today but hey... just my luck eh? Had to borrow $500 from my grandma to open a new bank account! This was the excuse given by the POSB Customer Service Officer: "Your account has no more money, so we had to close it. Didn't you receive our letter?" Why would I ignore such a letter IF I hag gotten it in the first place! Its not like my account is inactive or anything. Money goes in and out every single f**king month!

I shall declare the end of my crappy week as of 1900h today cos I get to see Fahmy. He was very concern, sweet and I shall declare him the best boyfriend in the world! I told him I felt like punching something to venge my frustration and he told me to not punch the walls, wood or whatever, but he offered his body for me to punch! Isn's he the sweetest..? And yes I did punch him a couple of times *LOL*

10. Got paypal and ebay account

12. I am slowly quitting from clubbing scene

Hmmm... let's touch on stuff I wanna accomplish before 2005...

Counting down to my bankruptcy

I had a great time yesterday...

My Payday
I am so happy I have money in my bank although the civil service sector got a lil' paycut. Actually it does make a hell of a difference!

Brand New Hair
Yup I did went for rebonding and cost me only $80. It looks great right at that moment but now its gone a lil' flat. Let's wait after 2 days when I'm allowed to wash my hair. Fahmy loves my hair... made him fell more in love with me as I quoted correctly :-P

Brand New Shoe
I bought a pair of 7cm high heeled sandals. It made me look taller plus very sexy too! I can't wait to show 'em off!

I wanna blog...

I think I'm happy... I'm in love... of course I'll be happy. Let's leave it to just that.

I can't wait for Sunday where Fahmy & I celebrating our 1st yr anniversary together! We're going Sentosa for a picnic dinner... I'm gonna get some indian food and the special cake I ordered *grinz* you like it duncha Lianne?

Work - so far so good, just realised I'm surrounded by irritating people (thanks again, Lianne). Haqiim still not happy he hadn't really actually beat me in pool yet... He's disappointed not able to try winning today cos the table's taken. Hahahaha...

Oh, I have to mention this! If you're not a F.R.I.E.N.D.S. fan, then skip this paragraph... I saw the 1st episode of season 10 what happen after Joey and Rachel kissed. I love that episode... so farney!!

I kinda like not appreciating that Fahmy's working for real now cos he hardly have time to talk to me on the phone. I mean, he will start to show signs of zZZzZ by the time the clock strikes 10! I mean puh-leeze we used to talk til like 4-5am... Or maybe its just some side effect from the aging process he's going thru.. *LOL* Sorry dear, dun worry, I still love you!

Do check out this site cos I'm going there in 2 weeks time!

Saw Seann William Scott on TRL a few days back, he's so gorgeous! He's funny on and off screen, yeah... Finally I've crossed over from Jason Biggs to him. Jason's just not as hot as he was in the first 2 American Pie. Hahaha... he's my latest eye-candy at the moment, take note people!

It rained this morning, as usual, dragged myself to get out of bed. Realised I had not met Fahmy for over a week. This Sunday is the big day... I can't wait! I'm getting my pay on Sunday too - or maybe not... I dunno. I hope the money will be in my bank by Sunday otherwise I'm screwed!

My $1.20 Ice Milo lasted me for 3 hours... not bad!

Finally off hiatus!

The long awaited version 7 of my personal site is finally here. Realised some links ain't clickable, that's cos I have not added them, HAHAHAHA! I've decided to take my time doing them cos there's so much I wanna put in but I ain't got them all yet, so give me some ample time to 100% complete it alright?

This version featured Flea from Red Hot Chilli Peppers and collaborated with my favourite song of that band "I Could Have Lied". I have no idea why I picked this song but seriously I really loved this song...

I think this version will stay on for a very very long time cos I really really love it! Its very gothic and expressive. Probably used it as a Halloween layout... Hahahaha!

Anyway right this moment I'm broke and preparing for an upcoming all-female bowling competition. My team called themselves "Coyote Ugly" (dun ask!) and I hope we're the top 15 teams to at least win cash prizes enough to cover the registration fees.

Exactly 20 days from now Fahmy & I will be celebrating our 1 year anniversary together as a couple and still unknown to the folks! Hahaha, are we good or what. We plan to meet the parents maybe when we reached our 4yrs mark. I know its a very long time, but we both think its for the best :-)

One more thing before I forget, if any of you guys had added me as an affiliate or linked me, and I had left you out, please tell me aite... my PC had f**ked up too much for me to keep track of things now.

Lets just say I'm SLACKING!

Its been a while since I blog but nevertheless doesn't mean that I'm gone nor I'm dead. I'm too alive to blog... *LOL*. The whole week has been a balance of good and bad times. Work as always, been bad, while Fahmy has been the best throughout. The most consistent source of good times I can rely on!!

Finances has been really low this week. I have more than 2 weeks to wait before pay day. Fahmy's cash running low too because of me. I hope I can make some sales on eBay to recover the lost $$. Fahmy and I gonna come up with cool stategies to make money on eBay. I've gained his interest now, that'll be easier for me to operate my "store" *LOL*.

I had to attend a 2 days course on Group Effectiveness the other day and I was stuck with about over 20 other adults who think they know everything... I hate that when adults start talking in adult language (all political and stuff). Thank God I met Fahmy after he got off work otherwise today's gonna end like crap!

Uppety-up-up-up

Catching Charlie's Angel in matter of hours in GV Grand Gold Class. It will cost like S$25 per ticket but I heard good stuff about that theatre. Anyway I am taking a few hours off work to catch an earlier show with Fahmy.

Speaking of Fahmy, he's starting to read my blog :P He's very happy now. He got a job and made some new friends there. I am very happy for him too. He's probably busy planning what to spend his salary on. His cellphone line's back from the dead by the way, therefore I could start calling and SMS-ing him now!

Marlboro cigarette price went up again. S$4.20 for 10-stick and S$8.30 for 20-stick! If I were to go to Malaysia to buy them it will cost me like S$1.30 for 10-stick and S$2.50 for a 20-stick! I could have quitted earlier and save all the cash but its too late... gimme til 2010 and I should have completely kicked the habit by then. I can't go cold turkey... I can't!!!

He's working!!

Can't believe that Fahmy's working already. He looked so happy now and when he is happy, I am happy. He's gonna get a new bass guitar with his first fat paycheck that'll be in December. I am just sooooo happy for him. He has never been happier. He has to do shifts which I think is kinda odd but I am very sure I'll get used to it.

I got my Standard Chartered ATM card which I THINK can be doubled as a credit card. Oh speaking of which, I have received their first bill, BOY do I splurge a HELL lot of cash like the no one's freeeaaaaaking business. Anyway I'll settle the bill as soon as I get my pay.

Speaking of splurging, I managed to get a good bargain on YAHOO Auctions (Singapore). A Nokia 8850 for S$235 and a SONY MD imported from Germany for S$150. I made a lot of people happy and rich last month.

I am so busy and less in the mood to come up with a new layout for this site. Maybe before Christmas I will come up with a good one... I hope...

Cash! Money! Bling Bling!

I have my own cheque book. YES I DO! Sheesh... for a low income girl like me, I am capable of having things only a rich man could. Anyway, that also means I have a lot of bills coming my way. Yes ladies and gentleman, I'm never gonna be financially stable.

I had a great night yesterday. Fahmy and I went to Sentosa and spend a few hours under the moonlit sky, the weather was superb and the beach looked awesome (although its kinda dark at that time *hehehe*). He told me he has a job interview today. I do hope he gets the job. He's been jobless for a year.

Rizal called me yesterday afternoon telling me that he scored an A- for his journalism degree test. He's a smart boy. I am not surprised. Should I arrange for a dinner with him somewhere nice to celebrate his A- grade?

Latest news!! Fahmy got a job. He just called me a minute ago telling me he got the job. He's starting on Monday and I am so gonna congratulate him tonight!!! Oh man... This is the best week of my ENTIRE life!

Its payday!

I had a pretty stiff week I should say. Its pay day but I can predict by lunchtime 75% of my money would have gone to bills and other payments. I just made US$9 on E-bay. If you wanna purchase anything from me, go to E-bay and look for fidainc. Some of the money went to paypal so I ain't gonna touch that moeny yet cos if I want to transfer it to my savings bank, paypal will deduct S$1 from the total amount I wanna transfer.

I need kind souls to host me... not my personal site, but I was planning to set up fanlistings (more than 1 obviously). I only need like 5MB of space and that's it. I know html, I know FTP. I ran out of space thats why I'm asking for favours from you kind souls to help me out. Anyone got any idea where I can get unlimited webspace for very little cost?

I heard from my boss yesterday that we will be shifting office in 2 yrs time. I am still thinking til now where could my company move to? Hmmm....
